At Equine Safe Haven is now in Whitesboro Texas

Now known as Texas SaddleHawk Ranch...an equine friendly turnkey facility, it was once home to Mark & Lisa Simmons and their cutting horses. The Ranch is 37 acres of lush pastures, producing round bales of pasture hay, many trees and shelters, a large barn, a riding arena and a couple of round pens, cattle chutes, and many areas to work with the horses. We are looking forward to our stay in North Texas! The Equines believe they are in Heaven; I am sure!

The horses, mules and donkeys that were saved from slaughter, deserve to have some time off from their hard lives, recent unhealthy air in Deming New Mexico, and to be allowed to freely roam around the property or stand under a shady tree. They are free to be themselves. They can come into the "barn" area, and get some fly spray, some grain and supplements and of course some loving from their humans.

You must take must take both horsemanship classes 101 and 102. In continued horsemanship you will learn the proper ground-working techniques and begin to work with all kinds of horses including mules that are at the SaddleHawk Ranch. Evaluation and placement will depend on how well you have done in the basic horsemanship classes and your level of interest. We do have horses and mules for sponsorship or lease that can drive and some will ride. Please see page for Equines of the Ranch.
We offer rides at no cost for veterans, elderly, or the severely disabled. People are encouraged to donate so we can give more opportunities to the community. We have a wheelchair accessible carriage that we use during parades and other events in conjunction with our partner, SaddleHawk Ranch. This is a wonderful program, which allows those individuals to experience a carriage or buggy ride. Often people will book this for birthdays or town events. Please contact us.
We do not offer any riding instruction or summer camps at this time. Equine Safe Haven's focus is on driving carriages for those 16 years and older. However, we do have some schools that will participate in reading programs for those children that are having difficulties in reading. We offer "read to a donkey", where they can come with their teacher or parent and read to the donkeys. If you are a teacher or parent and want to learn more about this wonderful program please reach out.
Do you love horses and/or donkeys? Do you have some extra time and would like to volunteer for a great cause? Send an email to us at info@equinesafehaven.com. At this time, we are only taking volunteers at our Texas location.
